Telehealth Visits

Guardian Primary Care offers both in-person and telehealth appointments. When a visit does not need an exam room, you can see your provider from home, from work, or from anywhere in Southeast Missouri.

How Telehealth Works

Schedule Your Visit

Call our office at (573) 200-6143 to book a telehealth appointment. Existing patients can also self-schedule through the Patient Ally portal.

Connect with Your Provider

Our office sends you what you need to join. If anything does not work on the day, call us and we will help you get connected.

Leave with a Plan

You get the same attention you would get in the office: a clear plan, prescriptions when appropriate, and a follow-up if one is needed.

Good Fit for Telehealth

  • Follow-up visits for ongoing conditions
  • Medication management and refill reviews
  • Minor illness visits
  • Mental health and wellness check-ins
  • Nutrition and lifestyle counseling
  • Reviewing lab and test results together
  • Dementia care consultations and caregiver support

Better Done in Person

  • Physical examinations and in-office procedures
  • School, sports, and employment physicals
  • Laboratory blood draws and specimen collection
  • Women's wellness annual exams
  • Immunizations and vaccines
  • Anything that needs to be examined, touched, or listened to
  • Most first visits for a new patient

Not sure which kind of visit you need? Call us and describe what is going on. We will tell you honestly whether it can be handled virtually or whether you should come in.

Why Patients Choose a Virtual Visit

No Drive Required

Helpful if you live out toward Jackson, Scott City, Perryville, Sikeston, or Chaffee, or if getting to an appointment is hard for you.

Easier to Fit In

A virtual follow-up takes a slice out of your day instead of a whole afternoon, so care is less likely to get postponed.

Private and Protected

Your health information is handled under the same HIPAA protections as an office visit, and you can talk from your own space instead of a waiting room.

Same Provider, Same Chart

You see the provider who already knows your history. Your visit goes in the same chart as your in-person care, so nothing gets lost between visits.

Insurance or Direct Care

We are in-network with most major commercial insurances, Medicare and Medicaid. Telehealth is also included for Guardian Direct Care members. Ask our office how your visit will be billed.

We Will Tell You If It Is Not Enough

If your provider decides your concern needs an exam, labs, or a specialist, we say so and get you scheduled instead of stretching a video visit past what it can do.

What You Need for Your Telehealth Visit

A Device with a Camera

A smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer with a working camera and microphone. A phone is perfectly fine.

An Internet Connection

Home Wi-Fi or cellular data both work. If your connection drops during the visit, your provider can finish the conversation by phone.

A Quiet, Private Space

Somewhere you can speak freely without being overheard or interrupted. A parked car counts.

Your Medications and Questions

Have your current medication list within reach, along with any home readings such as blood pressure or blood sugar, and write down the questions you do not want to forget.

Before your appointment: check that your camera and microphone work, sit somewhere well lit, and join a few minutes early. If you run into trouble, call us at (573) 200-6143 and we will sort it out.
